Thomson Muthama is a seasoned expert in peacebuilding, conflict management, research, leadership, and strategic management. He currently serves as the Head of Research and Senior Programmes Specialist at the Security Research and Information Centre (SRIC), where he leads the design, management, and implementation of varied programs and projects. Thomson manages several initiatives, including UNDP-K funded projects, Tetra Tech-supported efforts aimed at reducing insecurity and violent extremism in Kenya’s Northeastern and Coastal regions (REINVENT), and Security Sector Reform (SSR) activities in South Sudan under the Just Future Alliance (JFA) Project, supported by CORDAID through the African Security Sector Network (ASSN). He has extensive experience working with, and consulting for, numerous regional and national organizations as a trainer, program and project developer, facilitator, rapporteur, researcher, and data analyst. His collaborators include the Regional Centre for Small Arms (RECSA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), National Steering Committee on Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC-Conflict Analysis Group), Saferworld, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons (KNFP), and Act Change Transform (ACT!), among others.
