I have been teaching in one way or another for as long as I can remember. Some things haven't changed much and other things will never be the same; more than ever, we need teachers who can listen, empathize, guide, inspire, and of course, teach. What my teaching looks like continues to change but my core beliefs are still the same. I believe that students need to feel a connection to what they are learning, that learning languages and interacting with diverse cultures is key to unlocking doors, and that travel is and always will be worth the effort and expense. But the reality for anyone working with kids and teens these days is that things are harder than we could have ever imagined. Mental health, conflict resolution, assertiveness, and social skills, these so-called "soft skills" have become vital skills. Teaching has become even more exhausting and challenging than ever. I still love what I do, but I'd like to use my skills and talents to create a collaborative and creative environment where students and staff can discover their talents, work on their deficits, and become lifelong learners. I'm looking for a position where I can use my skills, knowledge, and passion for psychology, technology, language learning, and creative content creation to create a globally respectful and responsible environment that promotes autonomy, respect, cultural awareness, and the drive to leave things better than we found them.
