INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEERING PROJECT ACROSS INDIA

  • Volunteered across India for 3.5 weeks (14/12/2024 - 10/01/2025).
  • Two months prior to volunteering, I took private Hindi conversation classes to enhance fluency and overcome language barriers while travelling across five states—Gujarat, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi—enabling effective communication with locals without the necessity of an intermediary.
  • Saved up to 700 euros (62,000 rupees) to personally fund a meaningful volunteering initiative across diverse states in India, driven by my passion for giving back and my commitment to social responsibility.
  • Led coordination efforts across Jamnagar, Lucknow, Rishikesh, Mumbai, and Delhi to efficiently allocate materials, optimizing distribution and cost savings to maximize the initiatives impact.
  • Bulk purchased school supplies, including erasers, pencil sharpeners, rulers, notebooks, folders and boxes of coloured pencils. Donated them to two schools in underprivileged areas: one in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with 87 students and the other in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, with 98 students aged 10-14. This donation aimed to improve access to education by providing resources, directly supporting students learning.
  • Personally sourced high-quality pens and pencils from Spain and transported them to India, playing a key role in fostering an improved learning environment and enhancing access to essential resources for students.
  • Personally organised and distributed a personalised gift to each student —a tailored pack of stickers suited to their age and gender— designed for them to personalise their supplies. Successfully provided 185 complete school supply kits to students, directly supporting their educational needs.
  • Initiated the preparation of 120 snack-filled bags for distribution at strategic pit stops during my five-hour car journey from Lucknow to Agra, providing bottled water, paneer sandwiches, fruit, chocolate bars, and a drink of choice to individuals and families in need along the way.
  • Encountered several street dogs along my journey from Agra to Delhi and took immediate action by purchasing 4kg of dog-friendly food from a nearby supermarket in Agra, feeding every dog I came across.
  • Organized, funded, and assisted in serving two traditional Indian dinners for children at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, in Rishikesh, curating menus based on their preferences and cultural significance. Serving warm meals to 92 children on the first night and 104 children on the second night, ensuring a fulfilling dining experience.
  • Provided support to a household in need in Rishikesh by purchasing and delivering 40 kg of flour, 3.5 liters of cooking oil, 1 kg of spices, 10 kg of basmati rice, a variety of fruits and vegetables commonly used in Indian cuisine, as well as soap and hygiene products.
  • Donated funds to the Ashram where I stayed for 10 days, as well as to the Gaushala Cow Foundation.
  • Arranged the daily distribution of fresh fruit to the local mandir for 3 months to be given as prasad to the local community.
