  • My role as a dedicated Health and Safety Manager in the Data Center is to conduct pro-active and re-active on-site monitoring to safeguard our employees and to significantly improve the Groups Health, Safety, Quality, Environment & Training performance. I’ve been carrying out my job in different countries in Europe like Frankfurt (Germany), Amsterdam (Holland) or Madrid (Spain - current working location).
  • The main duties of my role comprise following tasks:
  • Adherence to the project & Mercury Engineering Safety Management system.
  • Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation
  • Adherence to Mercury Engineering & PSCS Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
  • Adherence to the Legislation of the country I was working and ensuring we comply with legislation, Mercury SOP and Client safety rules
  • Coordination in the development of task specific Method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of action, permit to work.
  • Compliance with the project safety statement.
  • Coordination of project safety indicators.
  • Good Safety Practices are managed & maintained.
  • Ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments, control of hazardous substances.
  • Safety interventions are completed & registered.
  • Carry out regular site audits and inspection, document results and follow up on any corrective actions.
  • Records of statutory inspections are available for project activities, tool and plant.
  • Adopt a Proactive approach to project EHS requirements.
  • Ability to work either independently or as part of a team.
  • Provide Safety input to site management & at site EHS forums.
  • Ensure project sub-contractor adhere to project EHS policies & procedures.

  • Liaison with site Project Management on environmental, health & safety issues.
  • Liaison with client. Doing monthly report and helping vendors to comply with Spanish legislation.
  • Managing all the permits needed to access to the client area when it is necessary.
  • Up to date documentation is included with the Safety File.
  • Waste reduction and recycling programs are maintained in line with project policies & procedures.
  • Working with the safety team and the production team in order to ensure between all of us we succeed in each project.

  • The main duties of my role comprised following tasks:
  • Provide positive assistance to site on HSE issues, spending appropriate time on each site to adequately address issues and monitor compliance.
  • Carrying out audits and inspections on site where required and ensure non-conformance are closed out.
  • Assist in Project set up, pre-planning of works and safe systems of work.
  • Assist in development of project specific risk registers and assessments.
  • Assist in project specific training matrix development, delivery of training and Tool Box Talks upon request.
  • Carrying out re-active monitoring including accident, incident & near miss investigations.
  • Monitoring and assisting in the assessment of sub-contractors.
  • Liaise with external bodies, organizations & positively represent the Carey Group as required.

  • The main projects consisted of trench and duct works on behalf of the ESB, installation of SIRO infrastructure and civil engineering works for local authorities, Irish Rail, Irish Water and various other work for State and Semi-State departments. This was a fast-paced working environment with travel nationally. I worked as an integral part of the Health and Safety Department in Richard Nolan Civil Engineering. As part of my job I performed site audits on a regular basis across all the company’s contracts. I was also the main point of contact for all Contract and Project Managers to request site specific project folders and documentation.
  • The main duties of my role are as follows:
  • Producing risk assessments and reviewing method statements.
  • Producing Construction Stage Health and Safety Plan pre-commencement of project.
  • Chairing weekly internal Safety meetings (in the absence of HSEQ Manager)
  • Assisting with the maintenance of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 accreditations
  • Ensuring JSSP are completed by site crew leaders
  • Conducting accident/incident analysis and investigations
  • Reviewing GA2 and GA3 forms.
