I started my yachting career working for various smaller day sail vessels navigating in Table Bay, Cape Town. I showed great interest in working onboard vessels and had the promise of being a team leader by being very patient and having a positive friendly demeanor. I developed great decision-making in stressful situations and always kept a responsible mindset regarding safety. I got very lucky after completing my Yacht Master Offshore Licence to join a private 60m vessel which only pushed me to further my knowledge and skill set and helped me to begin my journey as becoming an officer, I have three modules left, and then will look to do my oral before the end of 2025. I am looking for a position onboard to help me strive to be better and more well-rounded.
Started my first Mediterranean summer season on board Volpini 2. I learned about safety and operations of water sports, tender driving, safety drills, wash downs, and watches at anchor and underway. Developed proficiency overtime to operate cranes effectively for tender and jet ski deployment.
Promoted to Chase Boat Captain during my last season on Volpini2. Navigated and had sole responsibility for a 13m vessel. Facilitated communication between the bridge and deck crew, ensuring seamless operation of vessel functions.
Acquired skills in generator and engine repair, as well as monthly and annual servicing. Performed overall maintenance of the vessel. Dedicated efforts towards polishing and revitalizing key sections of the vessel's exterior including the hull, sun deck, and fore deck during designated yard periods.
Successfully contributed to the upkeep of Volpini 2 by skillfully painting its generators and engine room.
Demonstrated exceptional trustworthiness and communication skills leading to promotion as the Safety Representative on an ISM Vessel during my second year.
I got sighted by the biggest Charter Company in Cape Town and made the decision to move over and become the lead deckhand on multiple vessels:
Executed schedules for a range of activities comprising day-to-day tours, customized charters, events and functions from the harbor of Table Bay in Cape Town. Managed winter maintenance through creation of work schedules and knowledge of appropriate products and equipment to use in dry dock.
I started my yachting career onboard Mirage. I learned line handling, diesel engine repairs and maintenance, and sailing a vessel that accommodated 120 pax. Conducted general daily operations and administrative duties including washdowns, maintenance, handling private charters and guest requests, Day sails, events and work functions. Oversaw daily operations. Managed bookings to optimize team availability. Optimized team training and staff development. Customized customer experiences to build brand loyalty.
