- In this position, I was hired on as a manager for a newly started business and was taken and shadowed the former manager to learn the necessary skills required to fulfill the role
- For example, stock-taking and ensuring the restaurant does not run short of needed produce or drinks
- Ensuring on delivery that the correct quantity specified had been delivered, as well as that the quality of said goods was to the highest standard for use by the business
- Also, the need as well to ensure that staff are working to a minimum level and that customers are seeing a business where the employees are working hard and so feel assured and looked after during their time on the premises
- I was also entrusted with the responsibility of opening up the business and making sure that close up the prior night had been done correctly, such as with the proper locking of the doors and clean up of workspaces
- On my own shifts, I was given the responsibility of locking up the restaurant after my own checks were done to make sure that lock up was to be done properly
- Again I furthered my interpersonal skills in resolving customer disputes in regards to employees, food, or atmosphere.

- In Spanish restaurants, this usually starts around 1 or 2 and will last until around 6 or 7
- This area, in particular, is an especially tourist-heavy destination so rushes would usually lead to long table waits and lines to enter the bar and restaurants
- To work in that environment requires then you to be working at an incredibly high pace continuously for the majority of your shift
- While also needing to be cordial and friendly with customers this environment trains any staff member necessary skills to work in any service environment.
