Deployed as Resettlement Expert to Sherkole Refugee Camp (Benishangul-Gumuz, Ethiopia) under UNHCR's Assosa Sub Office to conduct the following activities:
• Review the data in ProGres and in the UNHCR case file and PRF to prepare the resettlement interview.
• Conduct initial interview and any supplementary interviews, as appropriate.
• Draft RRFs.
• Update the data in ProGres and in the UNHCR case file after completing each RRF and when appropriate, ensure that all BIDs are attached along with signed panel decisions.
• Participate in individual case management meetings;
• Support eligible refugees to access complementary pathways including scholarship opportunities and labour mobility scheme to Canada.
• Counsel refugees when and as needed.
• Conduct country-specific research on the human rights situation in countries of origin, particularly on Afghanistan and Colombia to update UNHCR’s Eligibility Guidelines on these countries.
• Perform detailed editing and formatting, and provide comments on draft documents.
• Provide research in response to queries from field offices related to specific caseloads and COI.
• Assist with summarizing COI information, including drafting COI summaries and footnotes for Refugee Status Determination (RSD) section use.
• Contribute to the management and strategic expansion of knowledge-sharing platforms on RSD, in particular, RSD PP (an internal UNHCR Community of Practice for RSD staff) and the Global Case Law Collection Project, as well as to UNHCR's strategic redesign of Refworld (www.refworld.org).
• Collaborate with the translation of documents for the Asylum Capacity Support Group portal (Spanish - English).
• Engage with the rest of the Section to determine COI and country guidance priorities, including exploring possible areas of research or production.
• Attending and taking notes at meetings along with relevant UNHCR staff (e.g. Human Rights Council, UN Treaty Body sessions).
• Legal research and drafting legal memoranda on international criminal law, human rights, and international law topics, such as the application of the principle of universal jurisdiction on
different countries, and the standard of proof in international criminal courts.
• Evidence review.
• Trademark, patent, and industrial design registration.
• Legal counseling on trademark strategy, Industrial Property, Habeas Data, data protection, Commercial law, and marketing campaigns.
• Strategic litigation in intellectual property matters by developing legal strategies for specific cases, and case management.

• Negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Preparing legal workshops on intellectual property and copyright subjects for our clients.
• Registration of databases before the Colombian Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, as well as developing the Data Protection policy and good practices manuals on data processing.
