• Perform real world and firefighting drills utilizing standard firefighting and rescue procedures and techniques. On Multi story structure, Aircraft, Shipboard, RADCON, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, to include command drills.
• Perform pre-fire planning in a variety of facilities research complex, industrial complex to identify potential hazards.
• Perform functional tests on firefighting equipment fire alarm system, boom and ground sweep nozzles to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Operate and inspect firefighting equipment hoses, ladders, and foam generator to extinguish fires.
• Use personal protective equipment to comply with safety and health directives (e.g. OSHA).
• Direct water though turrets and hand lines to cool weapons and ammunitions during rescue.
• Assist with pre-fire planning to physically become familiar with the layout, fire hazards, and location of fixed fire protection systems.
• Apply fire suppression theories and techniques to perform offensive and defensive firefighting tasks to structural, vehicle, aircraft, or hazardous material incidents.
• Performs standby duty during aircraft refueling and defueling, engine maintenance and testing.
• Utilize portable chemical identification kits to classify hazardous materials.
• Certified Hazardous Materials Technician. Performs research for uncommon hazardous materials to familiarize with characteristics chemical reactors, proper storage, and decontamination procedures. Employ hazardous materials response procedures and equipment to mitigate hazardous materials incidents.
• Assist with incident surveys and develops strategies for approaching hazardous release site. Identifies hazardous materials that have been released in surrounding conditions to protect people and the environment.
• Assist with hazardous materials response procedures to establish initial scene control.
• Respond to hazardous materials incidents to ensure proper precautions, decontamination of equipment after use and clean-up are taken.
