Senior Engine Watchkeeper on 108,000 GT vessel

  • Duties include: Operation and monitoring Main Engines, Aux Equipment and propulsion, Environmental discharges, Record Keeping, Ballasting and transfer operations, Monitoring Safety Management System
  • The workday consist of 6 hours of watchkeeping and 4 hours of maintenance on my allocated machinery
  • Responsible for planning maintenance, ordering spares and making guarantee claims to the shipyard

  • Worked as Watchkeeper
  • Duties included operation of all equipment in the engine room including new waste-heat recovery technology
  • Maintenance of fuel, lube oil, freshwater, wastewater, bilge water and steam systems
  • Took charge of caustic soda bunkering
  • Reported ship defects and created guarantee claims to the Shipyard
  • Spent time in the ECR, sharing the workload with the 2nd Engineer
  • After watchkeeping duty, I would spend 4 hours doing maintenance, ordering spares, creating guarantee claims, planning jobs for the equipment for which I was responsible
  • As day-work Engineer, I maintained the Hybrid EGCS, Lifeboats and davits, fixed fire-fighting systems and worked closely with contractors

  • Responsibilities included day-to-day running of the Engine Room: fuel systems, lube oil systems, freshwater systems, boiler systems and bilge/wastewater systems
  • I spent time as Hotel Services Engineer during which, I managed a team of up to 8 fitters
  • My responsibilities included maintenance of the emergency generator, lifeboats, lifeboat davits, deck equipment, incinerator, galleys, stores, and general hotel maintenance
  • While working as Compliance Engineer, I was responsible for maintenance of OWS/bilge water systems and responsible for the MBR sewage system onboard
  • Diesel electric propulsion systems including Wartsila 4 Stroke Conventional and Common Rail Engines and Sulzer 16ZA40
  • Extensive experience in job planning with use of AMOS Planned Maintenance System
  • Operation and maintenance of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System
